Iran: Hacking allegations are continuing to cause issues for the upcoming Israeli elections much like they did for the U.S. Presidential elections. Allegations came to light last week that Iranian hackers had compromised the cell phone of Prime Minister candidate Benny Gantz. Further allegations have been made now that the phones of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s wife and son were also compromised by Iranian hackers. While Mr. Gantz and Shin Bet verified that his phone was compromised and immediately replaced, the allegations about the phones of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s family have been denied. Much like Russia during the U.S. election, Iran is denying any knowledge of, or involvement in the hacks. Unfortunately, as we have learned multiple times over the past few years, the most important consideration for many in the public is that the allegations exist whether they are true or not.
