Members of Anonymous who have been working diligently on OpNicaragua appear to be working to draw in more members of Anonymous. Members of Anonymous have begun to conduct reconnaissance against banks within Nicaragua and posting the results online under the banners of both OpNicaragua and OpIcarus. OpNicaragua has been focusing on targeting the Nicaraguan government in an attempt to bring international focus on the Nicaraguan government’s treatment of its citizens. The attacks which have been carried out as part of OpNicaragua have been focused on targeting government entities as well as non-government organizations which have close ties to the government. This shift to targeting private financial institutions, coupled with adding the OpIcarus tag to the posts online is likely an attempt to draw in more followers and expand the number of supports for OpNicaragua.
