Anonymous has begun to revisit their OpCatalonia campaign as the one year anniversary of the Catalan vote for independence and the subsequent opposition from the Spanish government. In the past 24 hours members of Anonymous have successfully targeted nearly a dozen Spanish government websites, with attacks currently continuing to take place at the time of this report being written. In previous iteration of OpCatalonia, sometimes called OpCatalunya, Anonymous have targeted not only government websites but also private organizations that support the Spanish government. According to current conversations taking place within Anonymous’ various lines of communications they intend on exclusively targeting Spanish government websites, it is possible though that this may not last long. As the anniversary of the Catalan vote approaches the number of attacks will likely increase, and with that it is possible that the attacks will become less focused on the Spanish government, putting most Spanish organizations at risk.
