Atlanta’s largest allergy treatment business Atlanta Allergy & Asthma (AAA) suffered a data breach that occurred in January of 2021. Despite conflicting reports from Databreaches.net that say they alerted AAA of the breach in March, AAA says they first learned of it in July. In total, nearly 9,800 patients had information compromised including full names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, treatment information and costs, along with provider names, financial account numbers, treatment location, dates of service, and patient health insurance information. Thus far AAA says they had not received any reports of fraud. In a statement made by the company they said, “Upon learning of the issue, AAA immediately took steps to secure its network and mitigate against any additional harm. AAA worked very closely with external cybersecurity professionals to determine the full impact of the incident.”
