Bank of Spain DDoSed

The Bank of Spain has come under an intermittent DDoS attack which began on Sunday.  The attack has been causing the bank’s main website to go offline repeatedly since Sunday but has not affected any other banking services.  Though the attack has not damaged any other banking services, attacks on mobile banking sites can cost banks millions in lost revenue.  While attacks on banks are typically done under the banner of OpIcarus, which targets financial institutions around the world, this was not the case in this instance.  Anonymous Catalonia took credit for the attack. With the anniversary of the Catalonian vote for independence approaching, it is likely that this was part of the ongoing OpCatalonia, which targets the Spanish government for their refusal to recognize Catalonian independence.
