Over 36,000 patients of Austin Cancer Centers in Austin, Texas are being notified of a data breach that has compromised personal information. Suspicious activity was noticed on the 4th of August and after investigation was conducted, it was determined that the attackers managed to make their way into the systems on or around July 21st. All IT systems were taken offline when the attack was confirmed. At this time, it has not yet been determined whether the attack was related to ransomware or not, but if it is, that information will be released once confirmed. Information that was compromised included Social Security numbers, names, addresses, birthdates, credit card numbers, and health-related information.
