Wolverine Solutions Group Suffers Data Breach

Nearly 1.2 million patients of around 700 healthcare organizations became victims of a data breach caused by a ransomware attack in September of 2018. Information such as patient names, DOB’s, phone numbers, addresses, Social Security numbers, healthcare providers, medical insurance information, medical ID numbers, services codes, and payment amounts, among other information. Wolverine Solutions has notified the proper entities as well as their clients and they have also released a public statement. In the statement, Wolverine said “WSG is taking steps to guard against identity theft or fraud. We arranged for affected individuals to have AllClear ID protect their identity. The following identity protection services start on the date of the individual receiving a notice letter and can be used at any time during the next 12 months.”

Analyst Notes

Users should contact the three major credit reporting agencies to apply a fraud alert to their files. All bills and charges on credit cards as well as bank account statements should be reviewed for any unauthorized activity. Users should also take advantage of the identity monitoring service Wolverine is providing.
