Wyze Data Leak Exposes Customer Data

Wyze Labs, a smart camera and connected home gadget company founded by former Amazon employees disclosed a data breach on December 26, 2019. A list of cameras and security tokens used to connect to smartphones and smart devices such as Alexa were exposed from December 4th until December 26th. Additionally, Wyze disclosed that another database was left exposed. However, no personally identifiable information (PII) was leaked. Wyze, in response to the leak, logged out all customers and required them to log in again to create new tokens.

Analyst Notes

Wyze customers are advised to change their passwords on the account to a newly-created password that has never been used previously on Wyze or any other service.
