Iranian Accounts Taken Offline by Social Media

Iranian hackers appear to be learning from successful Russian tactics in information warfare.  Facebook announced that they had taken 652 accounts, pages, and groups that were being utilized for “coordinated inauthentic behavior”, this announcement was followed by Twitter stating that they had taken 284 accounts offline that were being utilized by Iranian actors.  The network of accounts were carrying out coordinated efforts to spread misinformation in an attempt to sway public opinion.  Iran has proved over and over that they are capable of evolving their tactics and techniques to improve their cyber-abilities. With how much Russian misinformation campaigns have been in the news over the past two years it is not surprising that others would make a push to try and find that same type of success.
