Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Comments on OpIsrael

Anonymous (OpIsrael): In an interview with a Spanish publication, a member of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Israeli government looks forward to the OpIsrael campaign each year as a chance to test their cyber-readiness.  While the campaign is focused on the Israeli government, a large number of civilian organizations end up being targeted by Anonymous each year.  Many of Anonymous’ supporters have a tendency to be very ego-driven in their actions.  A statement like this by a member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will likely be taken as a challenge to defeat Israel’s cyber-defenses.

Analyst Notes

At a time when Anonymous is already looking to increase the amount of activity involved in OpIsrael, a statement like this will likely serve to encourage Anonymous to attempt to carryout bigger and bolder attempts against Israeli targets.
