Meta says they have removed a disinformation network spanning across numerous Facebook and Instagram accounts pushing spoofed versions of legitimate news sites across Europe. This disinformation network targeted countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Ukraine, and the U.K. The campaign posed as both conservative and liberal, playing each side to muddy the waters of the information being presented. Information warfare is becoming more and more prevalent every day. Everything seen on social media should be fact checked and validated. Sources can appear more legitimate when displayed in ads. Checking multiple sources regarding a piece of information can help with validation.
