A group calling themselves Black Team X defaced the website belonging to the President of South Africa. The message read “Sahara is Moroccan” and “Morocco is ur lord.” Some are reporting the attack as a random action by Anonymous, however there is no evidence showing any ties between Black Team X and Anonymous. The attack was carried out in retaliation for South Africa’s expressed support for the Polisario Front, which supports removing Moroccan forces from Western Sahara. Black Team X, which is made up of Moroccan hackers, feels that other countries need to stay out of what they, and much of Morocco, feel is a domestic issue. As more youth around the world gain knowledge and access to computer systems attack such as these will likely only increase in frequency.
