Claims have begun circulating that private investigators have found a Chinese connection to the breach of Marriot’s database. No details as to how that connection was determined have been made public at this time though. It is currently assessed that any connection to China would likely be through their intelligence services. This would also indicate that the theft of the data would likely be utilized for espionage purposes instead of criminal purposes. At this time, though no evidence has been provided as to how these private investigators came to the conclusion that the Chinese hackers were behind the breach.
